At the risk of sounding spiritual (are all things not spiritual?), I am going to start a series of thoughts on holiness. Isa 35 talks about a highway that will be called the ‘Way of Holiness.’ I find the CAPS interesting, considering Jesus called himself The Way. ‘the unclean will not journey on it; it will be for those who walk in that Way.’
I think Paul was probably one of the most balanced people that ever lived. Big theologian and activist. Big on truth. Yet what he wanted to do he did not to and what he did not want to do he did…and so on. He understood both sides of life. Close to the end of his ministry he gives Timothy some advice. I think it is possible to write a book on 2 Timothy. However I’ll just blog a few brief thoughts.
Paul discusses many aspects of identity and maturity when he talks to young Tim - to me this is everything about walking in the Way.
Such a man fan’s the flame of the gift of God… for God did not give us a spirit of timidity (some translations refer to fear), but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline. (2 Tim 1:6,7)
I translate ‘fanning the flame’ as ‘GET MOVING!’ And move in Power, Love, and Self-discipline.
It’s quite easy to lose the way, when it comes to those three. Some of us touch on one of them… sometimes. When I look around me I see much more fear, than power, love and self-discipline.
I’m not pointing fingers at anybody - if at all, then to myself.
What happened to the people of this brave nation? People who have overcome so much adversity. How did we lose our way?
I think I want to make sure I’m committed to the Highway. So that people may see me. And follow.

Any thoughts?
