Tribute to the UK staff

Sunday, November 18th, 2007

I would like to bring tribute to all the 13thFLOOR staff in the UK. It was 2 years ago that Lourens and Leon said they feel God is calling us to the UK. And now to years later we have our second annual tour in the UK and Europe. We’re fully booked and getting incredibly feedback from our partners on that side as well as from the secular school market. Our team is visiting schools and doing very strategically sensitive performances, workshops, and class discussions, without being allowed to minister the gospel, in Religious Education classes. Example they are allowed to say ‘Christians believe that…’ but are not allowed to see ‘we believe’ or ‘this is what you should believe…’ After the shows in private capacity they are allowed to say what they want.

Thank you to Lourens, Wilmien, Alycia, Kelley, Karien, Jennifer, Liandi, Elsa and everybody who has worked hard over the last two years to open this door.

Check out our UK website and see what we’re up to!

Why I do what I do

Saturday, September 22nd, 2007

Things are going well in our ministry! We recently had a big event called … the ‘BIG EVENT’ - where we performed Gijima at the Performer Theater as a fundraiser for our scholarship program.

Our US team has just finished preparing their first show for their 2008 tour.

13thFLOOR UK is in training for our November UK/Europe tour, which is fully booked after our promotional event in Hungary.

Our 13thFLOOR Africa scouts have been up and about testing the waters for our Mozambique project next year.

13FM’s first Collision Music Festival? happened last week in Secunda.

And our South African Teams are ready to go on their last tour of the year in a weeks time, while our South African staff are finishing up auditions and putting together our teams for next year.

To top all of this our Executive Committee has worked 24/7 to redesign and restructure our ministry’s managerial structures so that we are ready for whatever growth the future might hold for our ministry.

When I think about all of this, I keep reminding myself that none of this makes sense if God is not building this house.? And I sigh and ask Him to keep me close to His heart.? This week some of our teams did some productions which was some of their own work produced as a practical task given as part of their annual assignments.? When I was again confronted with the spiritual and emotional growth of some of these young people, I just swallowed a few humble tears, and reminded myself that THIS is why I do what I do - and will never stop.

Starting up in the UK again

Monday, April 9th, 2007

Our team of staff is slowly but surely starting up in the UK again. Lourens, who headed up the ministry last year is already there. Kelley who was part of our plant in the US, is flying over to join the team. And Alycia, a mother to so many of our students in South Africa, is going end of April and will be the National Director running the ministry. These three staff members are basically going in faith with no money as the local ministry does not have the financial resources to fund a plant in the UK.

God bless the three of you!

Currently we seem to have a potential partner in a small church of 140 people in Havering-Atte-Bower. God only knows where this beautiful little village is. And the Queen. And me - I was there for a brief visit in December. This small little church an hour east of London, forms part of the Church of England, and is showing faith in our ministry, making office space available for us, and helping us with a place to stay and moral support!

We are in the process of registering as a charity in the UK, which is essential before we can do anything there. And we hope to be partnering with Scripture Union when we launch our first team in 2008.

We need a lot of prayer and support for this endeavor.

Possibilities are also there that we send a band over in July and possibly an end of year tour again! Go 13thFLOOR UK!
